Record fundraising gives Forbion new capacity to back promising medicines

Vista Partners examines Forbion’s €2.3 billion ($2.6 billion) fundraising as a strong show of support for specialist life sciences investing. The record raise, across Forbion Growth Opportunities Fund IV and Forbion Ventures Fund VIII, brings assets under management to approximately €7.5 billion and gives the funds capacity to finance around 30 biotech companies. The first investments have already been made.

The article highlights the complementary strategies behind the funds. Growth Opportunities Fund IV focuses primarily on later-stage biopharma companies in Europe and North America, while Ventures Fund VIII backs therapeutics-focused biotechs and new ventures built around promising assets and experienced teams. Together, they give Forbion capacity to invest across different stages of medicine development, while remaining selective in a capital-constrained market.

Vista Partners also points to Forbion’s track record: 142 companies financed, including 37 created by the firm, and 21 approved medical products developed by portfolio companies, reaching more than 1.6 million patients worldwide.
