Record fundraising strengthens Forbion’s capacity to invest in European biotech

Nordic Life Science covered Forbion’s record €2.3 billion fundraise across two new funds, bringing assets under management to approximately €7.5 billion. Together, Forbion Growth Opportunities Fund IV and Forbion Ventures Fund VIII can finance around 30 companies, with the first investments already made.

The article highlights the funds’ complementary strategies: Growth Opportunities Fund IV focuses primarily on later-stage biopharma companies in Europe and North America, while Ventures Fund VIII backs therapeutics-focused biotechs and new ventures built around promising assets and proven teams. In a market where European biotech companies have often struggled to access growth capital, the fundraising increases Forbion’s capacity to support companies as they develop and scale.

Nordic Life Science also discusses Forbion’s role in the European Life Sciences Coalition, which aims to channel more private and public investment into the sector and help European biotech companies grow closer to home. Over its 20-year history, Forbion has financed 142 companies, including 37 it created, and its portfolio has delivered 21 approved medical products that have reached more than 1.6 million patients worldwide.
