One of the key discussions at our second annual Cambridge–Forbion event explored how biotechnology is increasingly extending beyond its traditional focus on human health to contribute to innovation across both human and planetary health.
The first panel, moderated by Zahid Moneer, Head of Global Healthcare at Akur Capital, featured Forbion General Partners Nanna Lüneborg and Joy Faucher. The discussion focused on innovation within planetary health and the investment opportunities emerging across the bioeconomy. Panelists explored how the sector is evolving alongside the more established life sciences industry, highlighting both shared characteristics and distinct challenges in building and scaling companies focused on sustainability, food systems, climate, and industrial biotechnology. The conversation examined growing investor interest in the space and the role biology-based solutions may play in addressing a range of global challenges.
The second session, moderated by Hanadi Jabado, Managing Partner at Sana Capital, brought together Nanna Lüneborg, Kathryn Chapman, Executive Director of Innovate Cambridge, and Ola Wlodek, CEO of Constructive Bio. The panel explored what it takes to translate scientific advances into successful companies, discussing the roles of founders, investors, and innovation ecosystems in supporting biotech entrepreneurship. Speakers shared perspectives on company creation, access to capital, talent development, and the importance of fostering environments where scientific breakthroughs can be developed into sustainable businesses.
Across both sessions, attendees heard from a diverse group of leaders and experts whose perspectives reflected the breadth of experience shaping today's biotech ecosystem. The event also provided an opportunity for founders, investors, and industry stakeholders to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships within the Cambridge and broader life sciences community.
