Major fundraise demonstrates continued institutional conviction in specialist life sciences investors

Dealroom’s article “Forbion raises $2.6B for biotech in a capital-starved market” examines Forbion’s €2.3 billion ($2.6 billion) raise as a significant deployment of capital into a biotech market where funding remains constrained. The capital was raised across Forbion Growth Opportunities Fund IV and Forbion Ventures Fund VIII, bringing Forbion’s assets under management to approximately €7.5 billion. The two funds can finance around 30 portfolio companies, with their first investments already completed.

Forbion Managing Partner and Co-Founder Sander Slootweg, highlights how the fundraise provides substantial capacity to select, build and scale leading biotech companies at a time of limited capital availability. Dealroom also points to Forbion’s 20-year track record: the firm has financed 142 companies, including 37 created by Forbion, while its portfolio companies have delivered 21 approved medical products benefiting more than 1.6 million patients globally. The article presents the raise as evidence that major investors continue to support specialist managers with proven performance, even amid a more challenging biotech financing environment.
