Machteld Groeneveld, Chief Legal Risk & Compliance Officer, joined Forbion in June 2020.
Machteld is responsible for Legal, Risk & Compliance at Forbion. She serves as a board member of the Manager of the Forbion funds and as Secretary to the Board. In addition, she is a member of Forbion’s Valuation Committee and Responsible Investing Committee, which oversees the formalisation and implementation of responsible investment principles in the selection and management of portfolio companies. She also serves as one of Forbion’s trust persons.
Since joining Forbion, Machteld has led several key governance and compliance initiatives, including the Manager’s AIFMD licence application, which resulted in the award of the licence on 30 November 2021. She also led the Manager’s ISAE 3402 readiness programme, culminating in the successful completion of the first ISAE 3402 Type II audit covering the period from 1 October 2022 to 30 September 2023.
Prior to joining Forbion, Machteld held a variety of legal and strategic positions with multinational and publicly listed companies, with responsibilities spanning European legal affairs, fund compliance and corporate strategy. She has extensive experience in driving value creation through transformational growth initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships and new business development.
Machteld has more than 25 years of professional experience. She holds an LLM from Utrecht University (the Netherlands), a postgraduate degree in International Contracting from the Grotius Academy in Nijmegen (the Netherlands), and an MBA from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (the Netherlands).
