Managing Partner Sander Slootweg discusses Forbion’s record fundraising and the European life sciences funding gap
In an interview with BioStock, Forbion Managing Partner and Co-Founder Sander Slootweg discusses the firm’s record €2.3 billion fundraising across two new funds. The capital brings Forbion’s assets under management to approximately €7.5 billion and gives the funds capacity to support around 30 companies across different stages of development.
The conversation explores the contrast between Forbion’s successful raise and the wider funding challenges facing European life sciences, particularly for smaller venture firms. Slootweg discusses Forbion’s role as a founding member of the European Life Sciences Coalition and the coalition’s work to mobilise more institutional capital for the sector.
He also describes the investment opportunities Forbion sees across Europe and North America, spanning a broad range of therapeutic areas, as well as opportunities to in-license assets from China.
